Video is the new content style, we are all running out of attention spans and focus levels. Videos keep two of our five senses occupied and need lesser time to get the point across. YouTube has catered to our changing kind just right. Right from learning how to make a simple dish to understanding international politics, watching the iconic scenes from classic movies to simple advice with regards to teenage relationships. YouTube is the answer.

Videos are not only about shooting and viewing, but the money in there is a huge. It is possible to have a YouTube channel and actually make a lot of money out of it.

YouTube partner

According to recent stats we now watch more videos on YouTube than searches on Google. And with the recently introduced YouTube Partner Program you can now profit from making and uploading videos. You will receive a percentage of the advertising revenue collected per 1,000 views.

Depending on how successful you are (virality, subscriber base and topic) you can make a lot of money, and there are plenty of stories every week of more and more YouTubers making it their career.

Be organised from the start

If you have an existing Google ID, like a gmail one then you can just use that to sign in to Youtube. But we’d advise you to maybe create a new one, which will be for professional purposes as well, so it doesn’t get mixed up with your everyday Ola and Twitter promoting mails. Try and make it short and snappy, for you and your viewers to remember easily. (You could just be getting some fan mail…)
Be careful with the name of the channel
No pressure, but this pretty much determines everything. Well, most of it anyway. Be sure to make a relevant, catchy name for your Youtube Channel, a three-four word liner that sums up and most importantly, represents everything you want to show. That makes it more credible, than calling it something like ‘Joe Andrew’s channel’. You don’t want people to forget the name of your channel, you want them to keep clicking on it instead. You are assisted by the fact that you can add relevant keywords in your settings in the Advance section. Also, you can add a catchy colourful image to go with your channel, which will be featured at the top of your page..
CONTENT IS KING
It’s time to paint the canvas. The Internet world is truly yours for the taking, so be sure to make your content stand out. We’d strongly advise you to use high quality original content, which does not contain anything ‘adult’, ‘violent’ and ‘hateful’ and ‘copyrighted’. Challenging these set rules by Youtube, will subject you to losing your partnership with it. So, play it safe boys and girls.
Define your videos
Since most content is often subjective, we would advise you to give a strong title and description to whatever you upload, to get the clear-cut point of the video across to your viewers. So we implore you, do not play Guess-Master with them!
Keep up with the Uploads, don’t slack
Not too many people become ground-breaking Youtube sensations on one good video. You need to keep up the quality of the content you are uploading, so that people are offered a variety of your work to choose best from. That’s what will get the views, that’s what will get the likes and the subscriptions.
Like, subscribe and share
Sound familiar? That’s right, the mantra to increasing viewership is to posting it on all the Social Media pages- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat– fill these up with your work. Make your friends and family share it and recommend it more people. That’s how anything goes viral in this digital age, so pick your audience wisely. You can also embed it in different websites and blogs. Just make sure it’s out there and it’s doing the rounds.
M for Monetization
If you’re looking to make money out of your Youtube channel, the next step calls for ‘monetization’ of your channel. This feature allows Youtube to display ads in or on your video and you acknowledge that your video has no unmentioned copyright issues. This can be activated, by going to the ‘channel setting tab’ and clicking on the option of ‘Monetize with Ads’. And if you put out good content, then Youtube will send you a private message offering you the chance to “Apply for revenue sharing for You Video”. So remember, make haste while the sun shines!
AdSense is what you need
The next step is to set up a Google AdSense account and link it to your Youtube account. This is the most important step, as it allows you to collect your revenue. How it works, is that Youtube will pay for per ad click and per view. This works well for you when your video gets more and more views, because this leads to more potential of ad clicks and this further leads to more revenue. Although AdSense can be downloaded for free, the revenue can only be received if you have a bank or PayPal account and a valid, physical mailing address.
Promote, gain traffic and analyse
The final step to making money out of your Youtube Channel, involves promoting your channel on all the social media platforms, gaining more viewership and traffic through ads and shares to your channel and the final step, which includes checking out your video analytics to see the number of views, ad performance, minutes watched, age-group of people who’ve watched it etc. so that you know if your content is reaching your target audience and further, if you need to change anything.
But at the end of the day, content is king and you need to have some really good videos for the people to watch and love.

Became a YouTube partner
You’ve got some videos that are racking up views. You’re gaining new subscribers to your channel on a daily basis. Now you’d like to start earning some revenue from all your viewers. YouTube offers a program called YouTube Partners that not only gives you access to revenue-sharing, but also tools to increase your viewership. Here are some tips on how to get started.
Method One of Three:
Understand the Partner Program
1Teach yourself about ad revenue.
YouTube users monetize their content and acquire a cut of the ad revenue from their posted content. You are automatically enrolled in the Partner program as long as you have at least one video that is monetized. Application for partnership is no longer required.

2.Use tools to improve their video creation.
You will be able to check in-depth analytics about your viewers and their ad-clicking habits. There are special Partner channel features that allow you to use custom thumbnails, or broadcast a Google+ Hangout.
3.Earn rewards for subscribers.
If your channel reaches over 100,000 subscribers, you will receive a framed silver "play button" plaque that has the YouTube logo and their username on it from Google themselves. Channels that get over a million subscribers receive a the exact same plaque (Only exception is that the play button is gold) also from Google.
4.Abide by the terms of the YouTube Partner program.
Any videos that get flagged as a violation of the terms and community guidelines will remove your eligibility to receive ad revenue. Be sure that all your videos comply with the terms that YouTube lays out.

Method Two of Three:
Monetizing Your Videos
1.Enable your account for monetization.
In order to enable monetization, your account must be in good standing. This means you have not violated the community guidelines or uploaded copyrighted content. Log in to YouTube and navigate to your Channel Settings page. Under “Features” click the “Enable” button next to monetization. You will have to read and agree to the terms of service.
2.Check the content.
Each video you monetize has to be reviewed before ads are placed in it. Be sure to follow these guidelines to make sure that your video passes review and your account stays in good standing.
  • You must own the rights to everything in your video, including music, images, and text.
  • Anything you don’t have the rights to, you must have written permission from the creator to use it and make money from it.
  • Your videos must follow the Community Guidelines set down by YouTube. Sexually explicit content, gratuitous violence, shock videos, hate speech, and more are all prohibited from being posted. The complete list can be found here.
3.Enable ads on your older videos.
If you’ve uploaded videos in the past and want to start showing ads in them, follow these steps.
  • Once logged in to YouTube, navigate to your Video Manager.
  • Find the video you want to place ads in.
  • Click the “$” icon next to your video. This will open the Monetization tab.
  • Check the “Monetize my video” box.
  • Select the ad formats you want to have appear. Overlay in-video ads are pop-up text ads that appear at the bottom of the video while it is playing. TrueView in-stream ads are streaming ads that can be skipped by the viewer after a few seconds. Standard in-stream ads are ads that have to be watched the entire way through before the video begins.
  • Click “Save Changes”. Your video will now undergo a review process to make sure that it doesn’t violate any terms of service. You may be asked for information about your rights to commercially use any content in the video.
4.Enable ads on new videos.
While your video is uploading, select the “Monetization” tab and follow the steps above. Your video will still need to be reviewed before ads are added.
5.Get an AdSense account.
In order to receive payments, you must have a valid AdSense account associated with your YouTube account. To get an AdSense account you must be 18 years old and have a valid physical mailing address.
  • Under Channel Settings, click the Monetization tab. Select “How will I be paid?” then click “associate an AdSense account.”
  • The AdSense site will open, asking you which Google account you want to use. Confirm the association.
  • Enter your correct billing information. Without correct billing information, AdSense cannot pay you.
  • If you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to create an AdSense account. They will then receive monetization payments on your behalf.

Method Three of Three:
Receiving Ad Payments
1
Enter your tax information. This step only applies to US YouTube accounts. Once you reach $10 in earnings, you will need to submit your tax information to YouTube.
  • Sign into your account and navigate to the Account Settings page. In the Payments Settings section, click "Update tax information." Fill in the required fields.
2
Verify your payment address. When you reach the equivalent of US$10 in ad payments, YouTube will send a PIN via mail to your address. You will then need to enter this PIN online to verify your physical address.
3
Select a payment method. At a specific amount, YouTube will ask you to confirm your payment method. The amount is different for each country. Here are some of the amounts:
  • USD $10
  • EUR €10
  • GBP £10
  • JPY ¥1000
  • AUD A$15

  • JPY ¥10000
